Tour de Gorge Timmallallie National Park (Ride through Pilliga Forest)
Timmallallie National Park
09:00 – 13:00
This is your chance to ride through one of Australia’s unique and rugged landscapes. You’ll enjoy exclusive access to areas of the forest rarely open to the public. The route winds past striking sandstone formations and through towering cypress pines, offering breathtaking views at every turn. After the ride, stick around for the Aboriginal Walk on the wild side in the Pilliga tour; a guided cultural experience led by local Aboriginal guides. Learn about traditional knowledge, bush tucker, and the deep spiritual connection to Country that defines this region. The tour starts at Pilliga Pottery and concludes at Sculptures in the Scrub, where you can relax with friends and family, support local stallholders, grab a bite and soak up the atmosphere in the heart of the forest. Tour de Gorge isn’t just a ride, it’s an unforgettable day of adventure, culture, and community in one of NSW’s most extraordinary natural settings. Grading: Hard. Suitable for adults and children 5 years and over. Ride distances: 10km / 27km / 53km https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/events/tour-de-gorge Posting this unique event for those who are keen although it is a NSWNP event. The location is about 7 hours drive away from Ballina so it will mean several days away. It's a beautiful location. Camping is currently available at Salt Caves campground.  I expect to go. You can email me if you are interested in coming. David david@davidroland.com.au

06-09-2025 08:00 – 07-09-2025 16:00
Meeting at 8am on Saturday at Rummery Park. We will hike up the path towards Camp 3 on the edge of the Wanganui Gorge. On the way there we will take a short cut that takes us past a small off-track waterfall. After the camp site we will descend into the Secret Chasm. We will use part of the new trail to get to North Rocks Rd. Our camp is about 800m down this road on a cascade. On Sunday we will hike back up to Tungun Rd where we will leave our packs. (It will be good to have a small day pack to hold lunch. I have 2 spare ). The highlight of the weekend is to then scramble up Rocky Creek to its origin. This is a rainforest wonderland of waterfalls and cascades: my favourite place! In the arvo we will circle past Camp 2 and return a different way to the cars. 08:00 – 16:00
Lost Valley is hardly ever visited and is pristine rainforest, having never been logged. We climb up a steep path to the top of the Wanganui waterfall where there are a number of rockpools. We then enter the Valley where the stream glides silently out of this 'Garden of Eden'. After about a kilometre the stream starts to burble as it descends through boulders that have fallen from 150m high cliffs. We finally come to a 50m waterfall that is not even marked on maps!  Grade 3-4. Leader Steve, 0414312917. Assistant Mary 0421701949
