Designed as an easy, creeky outing before the Xmas Party which starts around 4pm. We will carpool from outside the Wilsons Creek school which is next to the Hall where the party will be. We will walk and rockhop one of the 5 headwater tributaries of the Wilsons River, reaching as far as a waterfall that runs off the southern slopes of Mt Jerusalem. Adam, one of our members, builds natural swimming pools and he is coming along to embellish his inspiration for landscape design. He is also a native fish expert. He will be sharing his knowledge with us as we go uipstream. This is planned as an easy, picnic-type outing. Come for one day or come for the whole weekend. Friday 24th Night - Camp at Rummery Park Camp Ground. Two sites next to each other have been booked for Friday and Saturday nights (one tent site and one campervan site). These can take a total of about 12 people so first people to book in can share these and others can book their own. Saturday 25th Morning - Boggy Creek Track. Walk from Rummery Park Camp Ground to Minyon Falls Picnic Area at the top of Minyon Falls. Back along the same track makes this 4km return, grade 2. About 3 hours including picnic and swim time. Track follows beautiful and quiet Boggy Creek through Blackbutt forest and past a few small waterfalls and pools. We can swim in the inviting pools along the creek. Saturday 25th Afternoon. Group games at Rummery Park Camp Ground – Bocce, Klop and Croquet. Saturday 25th Night – Camp at Rummery Park Camp Ground. Sunday 26th – Peats Mountain Walk. 7km return from Rummery Park up to Peats Mountain. Climb up through regenerated eucalypt forest to Peats Mountain. A short, easy walk along the Nandaly track to reach the top of the 150m high Falls, then a bit further along the track we veer off onto an offtrack path through sedge grass until we arrive at the 'Bumcrack' which is a curious slit in the rhyolite rock, fed by a permanent trickle. Nice place to boil a billy of tea before pushing on through the sedge grass to the hangliding launch pad that overlooks the Mainarm valley. We return the same way, taking in a pool on the creek. About 4-5 kms all up on a flat path. This is an easy day after last week's Koonyum Traverse. Grade 3, Leader Steve, 0414 312 917

This is a loop walk along the gorgeous Whisky Creek (Mt Jerusalem NP) to a large waterhole where we will lunch and those who don’t mind the cool water can swim. The creek features arching Water Gums and clusters of Bangalow Palms. It is easy off-track walking along the creek with defined trails leading us to and from the creek. We will have guided nature connection activities during the morning with periods of time in silence, walking slowly with group sharing to enhance our sensory experience of the forest. This is a full day traversing between the end of the East Koonyum Range and the West Koonyum Range, ending in Upper Wilsons Creek.  After a steep descent we will be crossing above a huge landslide that runs down into Palmwoods. We take a safe path across the saddle. Then we scrub bash up to Point 656 which has sweeping views up to Tweed Heads and around to the Byron lighthouse and all over the Mainarm Valley. The hike then follows the ridgeline until we take a shortcut off the route of previous years, scrambling down a safe but very steep descent through the cliff-lines beside a spectacular rockslide that was created by last year's flood. The last hour is a gentle slope through giant rainforest trees into a private property in Upper Wilsons Creek. This is not a beginners hike, and it will only go ahead if the forecast is less than 25c. It will entail a car shuffle rather than a car swap as Dave, our other leader, has a broken foot. If the day is too hot we will walk to a waterfall in Upper Wilsons and have a swim instead. Grade 4, leader Steve 0414 312 917

Weather for this Saturday is 24c with showers. If you are crazy enough for a wet walk we can visit one of the Koonyum Range cave sites where we can take a break from the rain ond make a jetboil of tea. Various routes are an option. Depending on the weather, we might even choose to go back to the same cave that we visited when the last Koonyum Traverse was cancelled (depending on who comes this time). Fun Social day at the Bangalow Bowlo.  Its that time of the year again where we have to hold our AGM. And because we need to make this an exciting day, the formal meeting to report on the year and to re-elect our hard-working committee will only take about 30 minutes. There will be a free drink at the bar, lunch, a presentation of the recent trek to India ( we are already planning another for next September ), a Larapinta presentation and then free barefoot lawn bowling. This event has been postponed. Paddle – Mullumbimby to Brunswick Heads Friday Evening We will follow the peak of the tide down the Brunswick River. A nice way to see a different view. Grade 1. 2 to 3 hours paddling depending on stops. We will need to carpool beforehand and afterward. We hike up a steep forest path to the top of the 100m high Wanganui Falls and pause for morning tea. Then we pass though tall, dense rainforest which gently rises to the 50m Lyrebird Falls; so well hidden that is not even marked on maps. We return the same way. Girraween National Park has a spectacular granite landscape and October is when the wildflowers will be in full bloom. For this reason, you should book early. This is a 3-day / 2-night base camp expedition. Book for Friday, Oct 20th & Sat Oct 21st as a minimum with the option to stay for Sunday night or return home if desired. Most sections are Grades 2 to 3 with options for the more adventurous. A good level of fitness is required to climb the Pyramids or the Sphinx which are Grade 5. We will spend a contemplative morning amongst the ancient pine and paperbark forests within Billinudgel Nature Reserve, near Wooyung, acknowledged as a Threatened Ecological Community. I will offer nature connection activities focussed on the trees and we may also do a fun game. We will walk with periods of silence to be more present and to take in our surroundings fully. It is about a 2 km walk through the forest to the beach and we will return a similar distance.
