A circular walk from Suffolk Park to Broken Head look out. Walk on Tallow Beach, along a bush foot-track via a coastal lake, then a path to the look out. Return via a road for a short distance, then a bush track and swim at the lake. This is a repeat of a rainy February walk. Grades 2/3. 6 km.  Simon 0414262064

3 day offtrack hike visiting fabulous hidden waterfalls and secret cascades in our own backyard that are only known to the adventurers in our Club. This is mostly off track, at times covering steep terrain in our World Heritage listed rainforests. This huge fig is on Coopers Creek, a short hike through rainforest, down into the Wanganui Gorge. Definitely a number of cool swimming holes along the way. Ideal summer walk. This is a classic destination where locals have taken their kids swimming over the decades. Offtrack so Grade 3. We will follow the incoming tide up Cudgen Creek from Kingscliff and stop for morning tea and lunch on the way, with optional swims. We will go upstream at least to the traffic bridge over the coast road, or further up to Cudgen Lake if everyone's energy permits on the day. Bring water, lunch and snacks. 2 day 2 night hike into Nightcap National Park for beginner women hikers looking to experience the joy of overnight hiking and explore the beautiful rainforest right in our backyard! This hike is easy to intermediate and will be a chance to learn about bush tucker, plant and fungi species, bushcraft and connect to country. As this is for beginners, there will be an info night (29th Feb - 7pm) to go over what to pack. The club has some equipment for hire and organisation is key so get in early. It's going to be hot next Sunday, so we are going to meet at 6.45 for a 7am sharp departure. We hike 1.5kms along the fire track, diverting to look over the Nandaly Watefall. Further on we go off-track for less than a km to the lookout into Palm Woods in Main Arm. We return much the same way. There is a waterhole back near the cars for a cooling dip. Info night for those joining in on the Overnight hiking for beginners in Nightcap NP on the 15-17 MAR (ladies only).  This night will go over what equipment is needed for mutli day hiking and food prep.  If you've signed up for the overnight hike you will have recieved a list of suitable hiking foods, please bring one item and we will practice preparing a hiking meal to share. This is your chance to be guided into the joys of hiking off into our local rainforest wilderness and camping next to a pristine stream with everything you need weighing no more than 12kgs. On Saturday morning we meet in Wilsons Creek and check through our packs together to make sure we haven't packed any unnecesary weight. Then it's a short hike into the Doon Doon saddle where we set up camp for the night .Then we hike about an hour up the Mt Jerusalem track to collect waater for the night at Thunderegg Rd, returning via the Flying Fox Lookout with it's expansive views over Wollumbin and the Tweed Valley. Sunday is a full day's walk along the western end of the Nightcap Track, descending  into the head of Wanganui Gorge. It's best if you have been to the previous equipment info night on 22 Feb because you wil get first pick of renting the Club's lightweight packs, tents, air matts or sleeping bags. Our Club encourages all members to learn the joy of camping out in our forests and learning how to limit equipment and food pack weight so the experience is enjoyable. We will have a full range of equipment to handle together with lightweight hiking food.  Come at 6.30pm and a lightweight meal will be provided to give you dehydrated menu ideas; nomminal charge $6. The Club has a number of lightweight packs, tents, sleeping bags and matts that can be hired. This way you can try overnight hiking without much outlay. Minyon Falls walking track leads through old growth Brushbox and rainforest to the bottom of a scenic waterfall (with a lovely pool for swimming) and ends at Minyon Grass picnic area. We will have a van that seats 8 here to return hikers to Minyon Falls. Grade 3, walk is 3.5 hours and we will allow some time at the pool to swim. Meet at Minyon Falls lookout, off Minyon Falls Road in Nightcap National Park. Wear covered shoes and long pants, bring swimmers, lunch and water. Grade 3: Leaders Sandy 0415 239 620 and Kerrie 0432 872 148 We have added some more capacity to this walk as it booked out quickly - however if booking from Thursday you will need to organise your own car shuffle so arrive at 8.30 or organise to leave a car at Minyon Grass on the way to Minyon Falls.
